Ted Leo bought me a beer once, in Charleston, SC. They played at a little bar called The Village Tavern on Thanksgiving in 2006 after playing a show at the massive Convocation Center on the campus of University of Miami, which is much nearer to where I live. Anyway, we started talking because I showed up way too early, and he bought me a PBR. True story.
I met Phil down in Miami after one of his shows a few years ago. I was a little drunk and ended up singing to him, which probably destroyed his hearing, however, he was kind and every bit of his music in real life.
Hurricane Wilma wolfed down our Halloween, but thankfully friends of a friend jumped to the rescue with a post-Halloween bash the following month. Leo was one of the lovely party guests I was privileged to meet on that fateful night, aptly nicknamed “Wilmaween.” As you can see, his pictures of the event are unsurpassed (that’s me in the wings in the back). =)
